Why it matters

Research first. Then plan your brand investment.

A name that looks unique in a quick search may have similar names or visible marketplace uses worth discussing. We document findings from the agreed sources before you commit to signs, packaging, or promotion.

Use your research report

Review similar-name observations and source links with your branding team or trademark attorney. Expanded research includes selected public sources; state-register, paid-database, international-jurisdiction, and logo research require a separately agreed scope. Findings do not establish availability or permission to use a mark.

Backed by 20+ years of IP research experience

Our professional background includes intellectual property and trademark research with a global trademark-clearance provider. That experience informs how we scope research, review source records, document relevant findings, and identify questions for a qualified adviser. It does not turn preliminary research into a legal clearance opinion.

Which research option fits my situation?
  • Only checking exact wording? The $49 federal screen searches all classes for agreed exact wording. It does not cover similar-sounding names or marketplace use.
  • Want an initial look at limited variants? The $99 snapshot adds agreed limited spelling variants and observations in one primary class.
  • Preparing a brand investment? Expanded research from $179 adds coordinated-class research and selected public marketplace/domain sources, with documented findings.
  • Have an existing application? Weekly status reports track an identified record; they do not search for new similar filings.

You can search public records yourself. Our fee covers delegated research, human review, selection, and documented findings. You do not need to choose a package before contacting us. A trademark attorney advises on legal clearance and any further research needed.

Pricing & next step

Can you meet my deadline—and can I preview the work?

Share your required date, approximate volume, and available materials. We confirm capacity and a delivery date in the written scope before accepting work. Urgent work depends on availability and may need a separate quote; an inquiry does not reserve a delivery slot.

Use the fictional sample report to assess the format and discuss the deliverables before committing. Samples illustrate the work; they are not paid-client results or promises of savings. Client feedback is identified separately where available.

Exact-match all-class federal screens start at $49; limited one-class snapshots start at $99. Expanded research starts at $179 for one primary class plus coordinated classes; two primary classes $254, three $329, and all-class U.S. federal research from $599.

Your quote reflects document volume, complexity, deadline, setup, and follow-up. We agree on scope and fees before starting.

Before you invest in the identity

A new name or logo deserves a closer look.

Naming your new business

Before you pay for a website, signs, packaging, or promotion, look beyond an exact-name search.

You receive: Findings from the agreed sources, relevant similar-name observations, and documented questions for a trademark attorney. Name snapshots start at $99.

Developing a logo concept

Have a sketch or proposed logo and want preliminary research into visually similar designs?

You receive: An agreed design-research scope and documented findings. Logo research is custom quoted and is not included in the word-mark starting prices.

Exploring a business or product idea

A business concept, invention, name, and logo raise different research questions.

You receive: Help defining whether your request fits preliminary name or logo research. This service does not establish ownership of an idea, patentability, copyright status, or permission to use it.

Choose the research breadth

One questionnaire covers exact-match screening, name research, logo research, and weekly application-status reports. Select the service you need—or ask us to help you choose. For status reports, select Yes when asked whether an application has been filed and provide the serial or registration number.

One class, several classes, or all classes.

Exact-Match Federal Screen

From $49 / proposed word mark

A limited knockout screen for exact wording across all 45 international classes in U.S. federal trademark records. Receive documented matches, recorded statuses, and source links.

What the exact-match screen includes—and excludes

We agree on the precise wording and treatment of spacing, punctuation, and capitalization before searching. The report identifies the search date, database, queries, record-status scope, and any limitations. Exact-match findings are not limited to the client’s primary class. If result volume requires expanded reporting or review, we discuss scope and fees before additional charges.

This screen excludes phonetic equivalents, spelling variants, separate logo/design research, state registers, and marketplace uses unless separately agreed. “No exact matches identified” does not mean available, clear, or safe to use. Broader research may be needed even when no exact matches appear.

The $99 Name Research Snapshot adds agreed limited spelling variants and factual observations within one primary class, with up to five documented findings. It excludes coordinated-class expansion and marketplace research. Expanded class-based research starts at $179.

Weekly USPTO Application Status Reports

From $29/month / tracked record

Delegate weekly checks of an identified U.S. application or registration. Receive a human-reviewed weekly digest of recorded status changes—or a “no changes identified” update.

Report contents, timing, and service limits

For one agreed serial or registration number, record the prior and current available status, relevant event dates, source links, and date checked. Setup establishes the starting record and baseline. Portfolio pricing is custom quoted. We confirm data access, record coverage, reporting day, recipients, and service start before accepting the engagement.

Checks and reporting are weekly, not real time. Public-record updates, feed delays, outages, and email delivery can affect reporting; the report identifies the data period checked and any known gaps. This is administrative status reporting, not legal deadline calculation, docketing, filing, response preparation, or representation. Official correspondence and all response, maintenance, and other deadlines remain the applicant’s and counsel’s responsibility.

This service tracks specified records; it does not search for newly filed similar marks, marketplace use, infringement, or all changes throughout the trademark system. Similarity-watch services require a separate, confirmed capability and scope and are not included or currently offered here. USPTO status information is available directly through TSDR at no charge; our fee covers delegated checking, review, and reporting.

Preliminary reports and when broader research may be needed

All reports provide preliminary factual research within the stated sources, dates, queries, and review scope. An exact-match screen does not identify every similar mark or establish availability. Broader research and legal review may be needed. A qualified trademark attorney should assess legal significance and advise on clearance, filing, and any additional research appropriate to your intended use. No report provides a legal clearance opinion, permission-to-use decision, or guarantee of registration.

Research by class · one proposed word mark

A class groups goods or services. Tell us what you plan to offer; we document the agreed research classes and source scope before starting. Search scope is separate from the classes an attorney may recommend for an application.

One primary class + coordinated classes$179
Two primary classes + coordinated classes$254
Three primary classes + coordinated classes$329
Four or five primary classes + coordinated classes$404 / $479
All 45 international classes · U.S. federal recordsFrom $599
Included classes, sources, report limits, and exclusions

Coordinated classes are included: Expanded research includes the USPTO-listed coordinated international classes for each agreed primary class, with overlapping classes searched once. An additional primary class expands the goods/services focus and related-class research; it is $75 within the two-to-five-primary-class packages. A class already searched as coordinated is not billed again merely for appearing in the search.

All expanded packages include exact-name queries without a class restriction, agreed spelling and phonetic variants within the scoped classes, selected public marketplace and domain sources for the stated goods/services, source references, and one clarification round. The written scope identifies the sources, queries, review limits, and delivery date.

All-class means broader federal-record research, not worldwide clearance. The $599 starting package applies variant queries across all 45 international classes in the U.S. federal database for one word mark. Selected marketplace/domain checks remain focused on the agreed goods/services; this is not an exhaustive search of every industry, registry, or website.

Focused, human-reviewed findings: Expanded research packages include a findings table of up to 50 selected trademark records across the agreed primary and coordinated classes, or all 45 international classes for the all-class federal package. A brief summary highlights up to 10 records with the closest observable similarities in wording, sound, design where applicable, or stated goods/services. Fewer records are included when fewer warrant reporting; we do not fill the report with weak matches to reach a quota. Word-mark packages do not include a separate logo/design search.

The report limit is separate from search and screening scope. Reaching 50 reported records does not itself end the agreed screening. The written scope defines sources, queries, classes, and review limits. A search log records the research date, sources, queries, classes, and limitations. Neither the report nor the screening is represented as exhaustive.

If additional records warrant attention: We disclose the additional volume and any resulting limitations, and discuss an expanded appendix or separately scoped review before additional charges. We do not silently omit additional records identified as warranting attention because the report is full. Any work beyond the agreed screening limits requires an agreed scope and quote. Findings are factual research observations, not legal conflict rankings, clearance opinions, or permission-to-use decisions.

Why related classes matter

Goods and services can be related even when their class numbers differ. USPTO coordinated classes are a search aid, not an exhaustive map of related goods/services. For example, clothing in Class 25 may be searched alongside jewelry in Class 14, bags in Class 18, and retail services in Class 35. We document any additional related-class research agreed for your particular goods/services. An all-class search still cannot establish legal availability or eliminate uncertainty.

Read the USPTO guidance on coordinated classes ↗

Research fees only. No application preparation, filing, government fees, legal opinion, formal clearance, or guarantee of registration or permission to use. State-register, paid-database, international-jurisdiction, and logo/design work are separately quoted. Multiple proposed names are separately scoped; class count is not name count.

How visual logo research works

Receive documented visual comparisons, source references, and factual observations about design elements, composition, and stylized wording within the agreed sources. The written scope identifies the image-search and design-code methods used and any source or geographic limits.

Selection involves researcher judgment, and results can vary by search method and database coverage. This does not establish originality, ownership, noninfringement, or permission to use. A qualified attorney evaluates legal significance and whether broader research is appropriate. Logo/design research is separately quoted and is not included in word-mark packages.

Why choose personal support & how we get started

Why choose personal support

Documented research—not a clearance decision.

The $179 Expanded Name Research package brings selected public-source findings, source references, and factual observations together for one proposed word mark, one primary class and its coordinated classes, with one clarification round. It does not include an attorney’s legal analysis, filing recommendation, or permission-to-use opinion. Choose professional legal review when that is what your decision requires.
